Expert on copyright, patents leads small business seminar May 7 at
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- An expert on intellectual property is the featured
speaker for a seminar designed to teach small-business owners the basics
of copyrights, patents and trademarks Thursday, May 7 at the University
of Iowa College of Business Administration.
Gregory G. Williams, an attorney with the Cedar Rapids law firm Simmons,
Perrine, Albright and Ellwood, will present "The ABC's of Protecting
Your Business's Assets" from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. May 7 in Room
S401 of the Pappajohn Business Administration Building.
The seminar, sponsored by the UI Small Business Development Center,
requires a $20 registration fee. Pre-registration is also required.
In addition to explaining the basics of intellectual property and the
protections provided by copyrights, patents and trademarks, Williams also
will explain how to take cost effective steps to protect innovations and
how to maintain trade secrets while selling innovations.
Williams holds a bachelor's degree in physics, a master of business
administration and a law degree, all from the UI. Prior to joining the
Simmons firm, he was an in-house counsel and executive with Rockwell Collins.
