President Coleman schedules final "fireside chat" for May
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa President Mary Sue Coleman will
hold her final "fireside chat" of the 1997-98 academic year Monday,
May 4 from 7-9 p.m. in the Triangle Ballroom at the Iowa Memorial Union.
The chats are designed to provide students with an opportunity to communicate
their concerns and ideas directly to the UI president and her cabinet.
All interested students may attend the chat. However, invitations are
being sent to 500 students chosen at random from the list of current students
on record in the office of the registrar.
This is the second year Coleman has held the informal discussions with
students. Like last year, she will be accompanied by a vice president
at each of the chats. David Skorton, vice president for research, will
participate in the May 4 event.
The chats are being co-sponsored by the UI student government and the
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University
