IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Area women are invited to a free seminar discussing heart disease and prevention Wednesday, April 15, sponsored by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as part of its centennial celebration.

Health for Your Lifetime: Conquering Heart Disease in Women is the first in a series of educational seminars planned this year. The free session is scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Hampton Inn, 1220 First Avenue, Coralville. In addition, free cholesterol screenings and blood pressure checks will be offered from 6-7 p.m. as people register. Johnson, professor of obstetrics and gynecology and an associate dean in the College of Medicine, will review the issue surrounding hormone replacement therapy and how it affects heart disease in post-menopausal women.

Behrendt, professor and chairman of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, will discuss the latest developments in cardiac surgery and the options for women.
