President Coleman schedules "fireside chat" for Sept. 29

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- An upcoming series of "fireside chats" with University of Iowa President Mary Sue Coleman will provide students with an opportunity to communicate their concerns and ideas directly to the UI president and her cabinet.

The first chat is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29, from 7-9 p.m. in the Triangle Ballroom at the Iowa Memorial Union. Invitations will be sent to 500 students chosen at random from the list of current students on record in the office of the registrar. The same process will be followed for issuing invitations to fireside chats in October, January, February, March, April and May. However, all interested students may attend the chats.

This is the second year Coleman has held the informal discussions with students. Like last year, she will be accompanied by a vice president at each of the chats. Douglas K. True, vice president for finance and university services, will participate in the Sept. 29 event.

The chats are being co-sponsored by the UI student government and the president's office.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to participate in this program, please contact University Relations at 335-0557.
