Stepping Up Project invites student entries for logo contest

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Stepping Up Project invites students from the University of Iowa and area high schools to enter a contest to create a logo for the organization, which is a University/Iowa City/Coralville coalition that seeks to curb binge drinking and underage drinking.

The winning entry will be used for a variety of purposes, including letterhead, brochures, posters and advertising for the Stepping Up Project. A $100 cash prize will also go to the winning entrant.

A panel of judges including community professionals, art teachers and students will choose up to four semi-finalists from the entries submitted. The winner will be chosen by the Stepping Up executive committee, which is composed of community representatives as well as UI students, staff and administrators.

Contest entries must be post-marked by Monday, Dec. 1. Entries should be designed for use in black and white or one color and must include the student's name, school, year in school, home address and phone number. Entries should be mailed to Stepping Up Logo Contest, 100 Currier Hall, Iowa City, IA 52242-1222.

The Stepping Up office has optional information on the key traits of effective logos. To obtain a copy, call the Stepping Up office at (319) 335-1349 or University Relations at (319) 335-0557.
