UI will step up enforcement of parking permits in construction area

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- If you don't have a permit to park near the Greentree Child Care Center on the University of Iowa campus, please don't. Unauthorized vehicles are likely to be towed away, University of Iowa Parking and Transportation officials are warning.

The UI is stepping up enforcement of parking permits in the parking lot that functions as the drop-off and pick-up zone for children who attend the child care center located in Westlawn, says David Ricketts, UI director of parking and transportation. The reason is simple. Construction on the health sciences campus has made the area more congested than usual. As a result, unauthorized vehicles are causing problems with traffic flow in and out of that parking lot.

Problems with the traffic flow could create additional problems with the safety of children, parents and staff of the child care facility, he added.

Signs have been posted at the parking lot to alert motorists, Ricketts noted.
