Homecoming activities planned for reunion celebrations, recent graduates
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Alumni who graduated from one to nine years ago,
along with graduates celebrating their 10th, 20th, and 25th reunions, will
attend the University of Iowa Alumni Association's First Annual Alumni
Homecoming Tailgate Saturday, Oct. 25. Additionally, graduates celebrating
traditional reunions will participate in a full weekend of activities including
special receptions and dinners in their respective colleges.
More than 800 graduates are registered to attend Homecoming Reunion
Weekend, and the Association expects 750 to attend the Tailgate at the
UI Recreation Building before the Homecoming football game against Indiana.
"With the excellent response this first year, we intend to make
the Alumni Tailgate an annual event," said Diane Baker-Gruwell, the
Alumni Association's Reunion Director.
The Colleges of Business, Education, Law, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy
are each sponsoring pre-game receptions and programs on Oct. 25. The Colleges
of Law, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy are also holding reunion dinners
Oct. 24-25 for individual classes celebrating reunions.
Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 11:20 a.m. in Kinnick Stadium.
Most game-day activities, including the Alumni Tailgate, begin two hours
prior to kickoff.
Anyone interested in specific college activities should contact the
college directly or call the Alumni Association at (800) IOWALUM or (319)
