IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Volunteers are invited to participate in high cholesterol studies and adult-onset diabetes studies at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.

The studies will evaluate the effectiveness of specific cholesterol-lowering medications. Nutritional counseling and monitoring, physical exams, electrocardiograms, and laboratory evaluations will be provided at no charge for those who qualify for a study. Cholesterol testing, at no cost, is available as part of the screening process.

Dr. Helmut Schrott, associate professor of preventive medicine and environmental health, is the principal investigator and Nancy Merideth is the research project's coordinator.

Anyone with either high cholesterol or diabetes and would like to participate in a research study, please call the Lipid Research Clinic at (319) 335-8201 or (800) 887-6917.
