GTE matches $9,375 in employee gifts to UI
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- GTE has presented more than $9,000 to the University
of Iowa Foundation in a match of gifts made to the foundation for UI programs
by GTE employees, retirees, and directors.
When GTE employees, retirees, or directors contribute to an accredited
educational institution, the contributions are multiplied through GTE's
Matching Contributions to Education program. The 1996 total is $9,375.
"GTE believes that quality educational facilities and programs are
basic building blocks for the healthy and prosperous development of both
individuals and communities. This matching contribution firmly supports
that belief," said Jim Larsen, GTE's public affairs manager at the
regional office in Grinnell. GTE has headquarters in Stamford, Conn.
GTE provides telecommunications services to about 265,000 customers
in 300 Iowa communities.
The University of Iowa Foundation is the preferred channel of support
for corporate and other private gifts to all areas of the UI. Foundation
staff members work with businesses, corporations, alumni, and friends to
provide support for a broad spectrum of programs and projects at the UI.
