Iowa Summer Rep at UI searches for Neil Simon look-alike

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowa Summer Rep at the University of Iowa is sponsoring a Neil Simon look-alike contest, in conjunction with its presentation of a festival of Simon's comedies, June 25 through July 26 in the UI Theatre Building.

Each entrant will receive a $2-off coupon, redeemable on a purchase of Iowa Summer Rep tickets. The winner will receive two free tickets to the Iowa Summer Rep production of his or her choice -- the shows are "Broadway Bound," "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" and "God's Favorite" -- and a copy of Simon's book "Rewrites: A Memoir."

Entrants should submit a portrait snapshot to "I Look Like Neil Simon," 101 Theatre Building, The University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA 52242. The deadline for receipt of entries is June 18. People of all ages and both genders are invited to enter.

Judging will be done by the University of Iowa Community Credit Union, the major corporate sponsor of Iowa Summer Rep.

While becoming the most successful American playwright of our time, Simon has also become one of the few playwrights who is instantly recognizable to theatergoers and non-theatergoers alike.

Each season Iowa Summer Rep presents a festival of plays by a single recent or contemporary playwright. For further information about Iowa Summer Rep, contact the Hancher box office.
