Participants sought for UI rheumatoid arthritis study

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa College of Medicine researchers are currently studying three new, experimental treatments for rheumatoid arthritis. The medications being investigated are FK-506, anti-TNF and Samarium.

Adult men and women who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and have experienced intolerance or resistance to methotrexate are invited to participate in one of the three studies. The research aims to alleviate the pain and swelling associated with rheumatoid arthritis.

All research sessions will occur at the UI Hospitals and Clinics or the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City. Patient eligibility for each study will vary. For more information, call the Rheumatology Clinical Trials Unit at (319) 353-7087.
