IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Several University of Iowa officials attended the annual meeting and product exhibit of the National Association of Educational Buyers (NAEB), Inc., held in Orlando, Fla., April 17-20.

UI officials attending were Mary Jane Beach, UI director of business services; Dennis Gritsch, senior associate director of purchasing; Jerry Williams, associate director of purchasing; and John Stephen Klopp, purchasing agent III.

NAEB, founded in 1922, is the national professional development association for procurement professionals in colleges and universities. More than 500 NAEB members from the United States and Canada attended the conference, which featured workshops on basic, advanced, developmental, technological and current issues in purchasing.

The NAEB program is accredited by the National Association of Purchasing Management and the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, which allow credit hours earned at the NAEB conference to be applied toward their national certification programs.

NAEB's mission is to advocate the development, exchange and practice of effective procurement principles and techniques within the higher education community, through continuing education, publications and networking opportunities.
