Allergy sufferers are invited to participate in drug comparison study
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- If the smell of freshly cut grass brings tears to
your eyes and an itch to your throat, you may be eligible to participate
in a University of Iowa College of Medicine allergy study.
The department of internal medicine is conducting a study to compare
the effectiveness of two Federal Drug Administration (FDA)-approved allergy
medications. People with moderate to severe spring allergies are invited
to enter the study. Participants will be asked to stop taking allergy medication
prior to their visits.
Interested participants must first complete a screening visit to determine
eligibility. People who qualify will be asked to report to City Park, where
they will remain from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Each person
will take study medications and record his/her allergy symptoms throughout
Compensation is available. Participants will receive lunch and a T-shirt.
