UI Liberal Arts College announces scholarship recipients

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The dean of the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts, Judith P. Aikin, has announced the winners of scholarships for students in liberal arts studies.

Students were selected on the basis of academic promise and accomplishments, and special challenges in their backgrounds or current circumstances.

The winners are as follows:


ARCADIA: Molly Ann Hinners, daughter of Wilbur Hinners,

junior majoring in speech and hearing science,

$1,000 Mary Campbell Tow Scholarship


GRISWOLD: Shelly Marie Bierbaum, daughter of Dwight and Charlette Bierbaum,

sophomore majoring in speech and hearing science and exercise science,

$1,000 Mary Goodykoontz Barnes Scholarship


IOWA CITY: Michaela Rose Walsh, daughter of Elizabeth Weinberg,

junior majoring in English and psychology,

$1,000 Myrna Lee Sprengeler Memorial Scholarship


PRINCETON: Maryjean Cerda, daughter of Charlotte Puckett,

junior majoring in social work,

$1,650 Alexander Kern Scholarship


WAUKON: Alaina Joanne Kehrli, daughter of William Kehrli,
