UI doctoral student receives teaching award

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Marketing doctoral candidate Alexander Fedorikhin received the M. Bhanu Murthy Memorial Prize for Excellence in Teaching today (Friday, March 7) at a ceremony in the Pappajohn Business Administration Building.

A check for $250 and a certificate were presented to Fedorikhin for the quality of his teaching. The prize memorializes the late M. Bhanu Murthy, a doctoral student in marketing who died of leukemia in 1983. The prize has been awarded annually to a graduate student since 1984.

A native of Russia, Fedorikhin is a fourth-year student researching consumer decision making and advertising. He holds an M.B.A. from Idaho State University.

The winner of the award is chosen by a committee of UI marketing faculty based on input from students and the applicant's portfolio documenting a commitment to teaching.
