(NOTE TO EDITORS AND NEWS DIRECTORS: The following University of Iowa experts are available for comment on a variety of subjects related to the July 1 transition of Hong Kong from British colonial rule to rule by the People's Republic of China. For reference, in Spring 1997, there were 29 students from Hong Kong and 314 from China enrolled at the University of Iowa.)

University of Iowa experts and their research specialties include:

·Jae-On Kim, director, Center for Asian and Pacific Studies (CAPS) and sociology professor, can comment on social and political institutional changes, as well as cultural, changes during the transition.
