IOWA CITY, Iowa -- "Coming Out," an eight-week discussion
group that begins Aug. 5, will explore the joys and concerns surrounding
the process of coming out as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.
The discussion group is sponsored by the Women's Resource and Action Center
(WRAC) of the University of Iowa.
"Coming out is a life-long process," says Courtney Reed Jenkins,
support group coordinator for WRAC. "This group places an emphasis
on individual integrity without pressure to come out. The group gives
members the freedom to define themselves, their sexuality and their spirituality
in a community that will maintain all confidentialities."
The group meets at the Women's Resource and Action Center, 130 North
Madison St., Iowa City, (across from the Iowa Memorial Union on the UI
campus). For more information or to register, call (319) 335-1486.
