New associate dean named at UI College of Business Administration

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Gary Gaeth has been named associate dean for the School of Management at the University of Iowa College of Business Administration. He is currently a professor of marketing and psychology and chair of the department of marketing, a position he will relinquish in mid-August.

In his new position, Gaeth will oversee the college's MBA programs--the full-time, on-campus program that has approximately 200 students, the executive program which is composed of about 70 working professionals who attend class on campus one day a week over a two-year period, and the evening program, which has about 600 students taking classes at the program sites in Cedar Rapids, the Quad Cities and Newton. Gaeth will also oversee the MBA Career Development Office and the College of Business International Programs Office.

Gaeth hopes to make improvements in the MBA program that will enhance its national rankings and give the school a reputation as one of the country's premiere public institutions. He said his work has been made easier by the improvements made by his predecessors and the support and cooperation of the faculty and staff associated with the MBA program.

A member of the faculty since 1983, Gaeth's expertise is in consumer decision making and service market management. He holds a doctorate in experimental psychology and a master's in psychology from Kansas State University; a master's in mathematics from the University of Wyoming; and a bachelor's in mathematics from Northern Michigan University.
