Student Job Fair set for Aug. 27 in IMU
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa students interested in on-campus employment
for the fall 1997 semester are invited to attend a Student Job Fair from 9:30
a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial
The fair, sponsored by the UI Office of Student Financial Aid, will feature
over 40 employers offering on-campus, part-time hourly positions and work-study
positions at both on-campus and a limited number of eligible off-campus sites.
"The fair is an excellent opportunity for students interested in working
to find out about the variety of jobs available," said Cindy Seyfer,
assistant director in the Office of Student Financial Aid. "More than
2,000 students attended the 1996 fair, and many students received job offers
or interviews that day."
Staff from the Office of Student Financial Aid will be available to answer
questions regarding employment options and to issue the necessary payroll
paperwork for students hired that day. Students should bring a university
ID card or driver's license for identification purposes for the payroll paperwork.
In addition, students who will be employed for the first time on campus will
need to complete a Form I-9, which requires a photo ID (UI or driver's license)
and a birth certificate or Social Security card.
For more information about the fair, or about part-time or work-study job
opportunities, contact the student employment area of the Office of Student
Financial Aid at (319) 335-1460.
The Student Job Fair is one of a series of activities taking place during
"A Hawkeye Hello!" Week of Welcome, Aug. 25-29, an annual tradition
designed to welcome new students and help them become acquainted with campus,
and welcome returning students back to campus.
