Tour of Iowa City and UI haunted landmarks scheduled Wednesday
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- In conjunction with the University of Iowa RiverFest lecture
this week by paranormal expert Peter Jordan, a local tour of haunted landmarks
will be conducted Wednesday, April 23, for a few brave souls.
Iowa City area paranormal investigator Todd Ristau will lead the tour, beginning
at 6:45 p.m. at the Mill Restaurant, 120 E. Burlington, of such ghostly landmarks
as the Hall Mall, Currier Hall, Mabie Theatre and perhaps the Black Angel.
Participants are asked to bring a flashlight, comfortable shoes and their
courage. The walk should last about an hour.
Ristau, a graduate of the UI Playwrights Workshop, is a member of the International
Ghost Hunters Society and publishes a monthly magazine, "Third Eye Over
Iowa," dedicated to tracking paranormal activity in the Midwest. The
ghost walk is co-sponsored by the magazine.
Jordan, of "Amityville Horror" fame, will present a lecture Thursday,
April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union. Admission
is free and open to the public. The event is sponsored by the University Lecture
Committee in conjunction with UI RiverFest activities.
