Local student awarded Child Care Tuition Assistance Scholarship

IOWA CITY, Iowa-- (Name) of (hometown), a (class standing) studying (major or program) at the University of Iowa, was recently awarded the Child Care Tuition Assistance scholarship. The UI Student Government Child Care Commission funds a $300 child care tuition assistance program to provide scholarships to student families who have a child enrolled in a day care center or cared for by a home provider. Awards were determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid and were distributed by the UISG Child Care Commission and the UISG executive cabinet.

"Student Government strives to make child care for students an issue that administrators and governmental officials confront," says Marc Beltrame, former Student Government President. "This scholarship is only a small gesture of support to the students who battle both the rising costs of tuition and child care."
